The Garden of our Hearts

When I was younger, planting, weeding, and harvesting was hard work and I never liked it. But now I've learned to seek the lovely things.

Poetry and photography has taught me to always be looking for the beautiful. That is what the various arts and creative faculties are for, to help us see, express and capture, as best we can, the beauty our father has given us, using the creative mind He gave us.

Now gardening is such a wonderful thing to me. Dirt under the nails, sun on your neck, tedious work between the tiny carrot shoots. Tending the ground is beautiful work.

You cultivate growth, and pull what prevents it.

Is that not a lot like life? You need to know the good plants so well that you can recognize the weeds right away. Just like studying what is true so you know it so well that you recognize the lies right away. And then can pull those weeds, through His strength, in order that the garden of our hearts may grow into the likeness of our creator.
