Enthralled

Incredibly enthralled in books of old
These stories told, sometimes sung
All wrapped up in the folds of time
There, where hearts unfold
They gave my heart and mind a home
Valor and glory to find, I reach out to find
In a trance I am trapped
The light always defeated the dark
But what would that story be without the fight?
What the story didn't say is that I live there too
In the beautiful stories they sew
I did not know, Narnia is my home too
But each of my homes were but a representation
A reflection of the greater fight
An adoration of the work already done
To call them fairytale is unfair
For in my need they reminded me
That my battle was won by a redeeming care
But we fight still, alongside the conqueror
Who already won my heart
Though I am a wanderer
For I have strayed
Like Edmond I have betrayed Him
But like Aslan, He renewed me
Like Lucy I failed to follow
Follow Him despite the others
But He came for me anyway
And like the beavers, I will have faith
Assurance of the spring
And the trees will dance again
For the day of the Return of the King came
As in Gondor, as was promised
As will my King return to reign
And despite my inability
Like Frodo's stubborn grasp on the ring,
He uses me anyway, in my futility
The ring was still destroyed
The stone table, broken
Through the strife, the light only shines brighter
And from death the world was set free
And until I go to my new home,
I will be a friend to you, as Sam Gamgee was to me
